Today we began our percolation testing

The trial pits were interesting in that we dug the required 2m hole and were not close to the water table so that was good news, however the percolation test holes proved slightly more problematic.

The water was not as free-draining as we had hoped so we will now need to investigate alternative options for our drainage disposal, such as mound systems and reed beds. The back up of pumping to the mains drains is always there, however if possible, we would like to do something more sustainable that doesn't involve adding to the already over-burdened mains sewer system.
