windows

Today we visited a Gaulhofer window installation at... Andy Goldsworthy's house!

Today we went to visit a Gaulhofer window installation previously undertaken by Robbie Fraser of 'Let's Talk Windows' at none other than Andy Goldsworthy's house! A very exciting day all round as I have been a fan of his work for some time. Not only did the windows look and feel fantastic, there were plenty of wonderful installations to stare at out of the wonderful almost fully glazed extension!

We are now very seriously considering using the Gaulhofer units, and just need to finalise some costings and U-Value detail before finally committing.

The next stage is to get the building up to the next level of detail to settle on an exact construction method, and ensure that the detail of all of the junctions are going to be thermal bridge free. During this process we will also select our PH Certifier.

The 3-tier process of Certification enables me as a qualified CEPH designer to carry out the initial passive house design and PHPP calculations. These are then verified by an independent Certifier (of which there are only 4 in the UK), and finally, the whole project data file is verified for a third time by the Passive House Institute (PHI) in Germany to ensure compliance with the rigorous standards.

In the mean time, here is an initial 3-D representation of the house design… exciting times!
