tiling #3
The final tiling takes place for the en-suite splashback!
This past week I have now finished the en-suite splashback behind the wash-hand basin. We decided to place the basin for this guest room in the bedroom iteself, with a translucent glass door between it and the WC / shower, to give maximum flexibility of use in this relatively small bedroom. We therefore wanted the splashback to the basin to be bold and interesting, as it would be on display all of the time, but also to echo the other tiling in the house.
We used the same Domus Tex porcelain tiles as the other two tiled areas (accessible bathroom and utility room), and in the same arrangement as the bathroom.
The tap looks off centre, but it comes as a combined fitting of spout and handle, so I decided to have the spout centralised over the basin, with the tap part off to one side. Placing the fittings on joints makes the tile cuts much easier, but even with the aid of a mechanical tile cutter it still requires a lot of care and patience!
