boarding
Internal timber boarding started!
Last weekend we started the timber boarding detail at the dining area. We wanted something more durable than plasterboard as we have since discovered that little people love running along the concrete benches, and people’s head’s rub on the wall when sitting at the table, so a ‘wipe clean’ surface seems like the most practical option!
We are using the same timber boards we have used on the inner box but this time setting them flush with the wall plasterboard above. To achieve this detail we first need to continue the plasterboard down the rear face of the service cavity to ensure we get full fire protection here. Then we re-fixed new, slightly reduced depth service cavity battens, and started fitting the timber boards leaving a small expansion gap to the bench below and the plasterboard bead above.
Working our way along the wall… Then re-filling and sanding at the plasterboard bead… Then moving along the other wall to the south.
The view down from the office space…
We are staining this boarding a pale grey to differentiate it from the walls above and the inner box, which is all black.
