joinery
This week we begun the timber wall linings.
This week we have been working on the internal joinery, and started the timber wall linings to our ‘inner cube’. We started in the master bedroom, and worked our way out and round to the double height space.
We are using standard t&g oak veneered engineered flooring for this, as it only needs to be 14mm thick, and this will be the most stable material in any rooms with higher humidity, such as the bathrooms and kitchen.
We have decided to articulate the inner cube, which contains all of the ‘service’ areas, in black stained timber, and then other areas will be picked out in either white or grey. We are using Osmo natural wood stain, as it is a great finish, and really penetrates the wood offering long term protection, and an easy to clean surface. We will then finish the stained timber in an Osmo top coat, however we have yet to confirm which level of sheen we want, so I think we need to see the black in situ first!
These photos show us working out and around the corner in the double height space… We have left the long edges for last, as these require a mitre so it’s the most time consuming and tricky part.
