Permeable outdoor seating.

Last weekend we started to fit some gabion baskets to our elevated patio area on the west of the house. We are using standard galvanised steel baskets but for the fill we wanted to use the reclaimed bricks that have been recovered during the site excavations.

Both our selves and our immediate neighbour discovered a lot of bricks from the old Veterinarian surgery that used to be at the top of their plot when we were excavating, and I have been saving them for this very purpose!

We have two different sizes so we are hand selecting the best ones for the top and front faces, and using the ones that still have a lot of cement mortar clinging to them for the fill behind. (The white membrane you can see in the background is the geotextile laid under the patio Type 1.)
